Asclera - Injectable Vein Treatment

What is Asclera® (A Skler Ah)?

Asclera Injection is a prescription medicine that is used in a procedure called sclerotherapy and is administered to treat two types of veins:

  • Uncomplicated spider veins (very small varicose veins less ≤1 mm in diameter)
  • Uncomplicated small varicose veins (1 to 3 mm in diameter) known as reticular veins

What causes spider and reticular veins?

Spider and reticular veins can be caused by many factors.

  • Heredity
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Pregnancy
  • Overweight and obesity
  • Prolonged standing or sitting

Other possible causes for varicose veins are race, posture, occupation, hormones such as estrogen and progesterone, primary valvular incompetence, and incompetent perforating veins.

How does Asclera® help?

Asclera is injected into the vein. It damages the cells lining the inside of blood vessels. Eventually, these blood vessels will become useless and be replaced with tissue.

How long will this treatment take?

Typically 15-45 minutes, depending on individual.

What to avoid after treatment?

For two to three days following treatment, avoid:

  • Heavy Exercises
  • Sunbathing
